Families and students enrolled at New Braunfels High School (TX) can register here for the 2021 PSAT/NMSQT® exam to be administered on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER: September 13, 2021
Please read through the information below and then click on Order the PSAT® Exam to submit an order.
1. Registration & Fees
Students in grade 9, 10 and 11 must register for the 2021 PSAT/NMSQT® exam between August 23 and September 13, 2021.
The exam will be administered on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
The cost for each exam is $20.
Under no circumstances will late PSAT registrations be accepted.
Please be mindful of the September 13 deadline. This ensures that school’s ability to meet the College Board’s deadline as well as the decision to use bulk-registration in advance of exam day and in place of the pre-administration sessions. Additionally, because pre-administration sessions will not be conducted, tests of absent students will NOT be able to be claimed by another student the day of the exam.
2. Why take the PSAT/NMSQT®
10th and 11th grade students are encouraged to take the PSAT® for a variety of reasons: 1) It gives the most up-to-date picture of where you are likely to score on the actual SAT. This will assist you in determining where you wish to spend your time and effort in preparing for the SAT® exam. 2) As a junior, you are entered as a part of the National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test (NMSQT®), a competition that awards some top scoring students across the nation with scholarships. 3) Another chance at a practice exam is always a good idea. This will help you to get a feel for the actual exam, which may help to reduce testing anxiety
3. When are scores released?
PSAT® results are usually sent to schools in late December and then are released to students soon after. Students will be able to log into their College Board profiles at https://studentscores.collegeboard.org to retrieve the scores (College Board Profiles are the same accounts used to order SAT® exams, or to log into the MyAP AP® Exam system. If students do not have one, they will need to create a profile to access scores.)
4. Can I cancel my exam and receive a refund?
Cancellation/Requesting a refund is not possible.
5. Fee Reductions
Students who believe they are eligible for a fee reduction on the PSAT/NMSQT should contact Mr. Cortez at ocortez@nbisd.org to apply. Approved students will be provided with a Fee Reduction Code that will reduce the cost of the exam to $0. Code usage will be verified by APTS with the school.
Please review the information at the link below regarding eligibility for fee waivers:

6. Where do I report for the exam?
Exam reporting information will be released by your school closer to the exam date.
Under no circumstances will late PSAT registrations be accepted. Please be mindful of the September 13 deadline. This ensures that school’s ability to meet the College Board’s deadline as well as the decision to use bulk-registration in advance of exam day and in place of the pre-administration sessions.
