Students and Families enrolled in Madison Metropolitan School District (Madison, WI) schools can submit payment here for the May 2023 AP® Exam Administration.

Deadline to Submit Balance Due: February 24, 2023 (midnight EST)
Deadlines and Procedures:
Step 1: Submit Exam Deposit – To initiate an exam order, submit a $40 per exam deposit for the exams you will be taking in May 2023 by clicking on Submit AP® Exam Deposit. Deadline to submit deposit without penalty fees is October 23, 2022.
Step 2: Activate Exam on MyAP – Students who have successfully submitted a deposit will receive via email an Exam Only Join Code to apply to their account on https://myap.collegeboard.org (This code is separate from and in ADDITION to the teacher issued code you received from your school!) To access the site, create or use a College Board Profile. (See FAQs for more details.) October 23, 2022 is the deadline to activate your exam on MyAP.
Step 3: Submit Balance of Fees Due – Students who successfully completed step 1 and 2 above will receive via email in January a personalized digital invoice for the applicable balance of fees due. Deadline to submit balance in full is February 24, 2023.
General Policies and Information:
1. Exam registration for the May 2023 AP® Exam administration in MMSD runs from September 12, 2022 through October 23, 2022.
2. The cost of each AP® Exam is $110 (AP Capstone exams are $145.)
A $40 per exam deposit is due by October 23, 2022 to initiate the exam order.
Orders placed between November 14, 2022 and February 24, 2023 will incur a $40 per exam penalty fee and will require the full exam price to be submitted at the time of order initiation. No exams will be ordered or initiated after February 24, 2023.
If you are enrolled in a course that COMMENCES In the Spring/second semester, you may register for that course’s exam in October OR you may register for that course’s corresponding exam with no penalty fees between January 1 and February 24, 2023.
There will be no waiting list or stand by testing.
3. All exams must be activated on the College Board’s MyAP site at http://myap.collegeboard.org
To Activate the exam, students will log into the MyAP Site with their College Board profile accounts (the same account used to order SAT® exams, or to collect PSAT/NMSQT® and AP® exam scores from past years.) Students who do not have an account will create one on the MyAP Site.
All students must have a complete AP® Profile on the MyAP site – including personal information. (See FAQs for more information on what to include and why.)
To activate the subject exam, a Join Code (Access Code) will need to be applied to the MyAP Account by clicking ‘Add Exam/Class’ and entering the subject specific Exam Only Join Code.

- Because the bulk of MMSD exams are administered at a central location, students will receive a special Exam Join Code via email from APTS upon successful completion of exam deposit submission. The Exam Join Codes will be emailed to the STUDENT email address provided on the payment form within 24-hrs of payment submission and verification. (See FAQs for more info.)
- Students will ALSO receive in class a teacher specific Class Join Code- this teacher-based code provides students with access to course and exam prep materials and should be used by ALL students, even if they do not plan to take the exam.
- ONLY the Exam Join Code will actually activate an exam order.

NOTE: BOTH payment and exam activation MUST be completed by October 23, 2022 to enable your AP Coordinator to submit the exam order to College Board. Students who do not have both steps completed by October 23 will incur penalty fees. No new exam orders will be possible after February 24, 2023.
SPRING: Deadline to join your AP Class with your teacher-issued code is January 31. Deadline to join the EXAM group with the exam code issued by APTS is February 24, 2023.
4. Deposit and fee payments for exams may be done via credit card or debit card, OR by mailing in a check or money order. There will be an online payment fee of 3.1% for payments submitted by credit or debit card. Directions for payment can be found at the end of the online deposit payment form and in your e-mail confirmation which will be sent to the email address you provide on the registration form. Postmark deadline to ensure timely processing of your deposit is October 18, 2022.
All students who would like to register for an exam must complete the deposit form, regardless of payment amount due, to trigger the process.
Students who successfully completed both deposit form submission and exam activation will receive in January a personalized digital invoice at the PARENT email address on the deposit form. The balance of fees due will be payable online with debit or credit card or via mail in (check or money order.)
To be eligible to take the May 2023 exam, the applicable balance of fees due must be paid in full by February 24, 2023.
5. Fee waivers/assistance – Students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch status will enter the Fee Reduction Code VKHAFG in the appropriate field on the online deposit form. Fee reduction code usage will be verified by APTS with MMSD. Unapproved code usage will result in cancellation of the exam order until full payment is submitted. Activation of the exam is also required on the MyAP Site.
All students who would like to register for an exam must complete the deposit form, regardless of payment amount due, to trigger the process.

6. Cancellations/Refunds: A full refund of exam fees submitted is possible for exam orders through November 10, 2022 at 11:59pm CST. To cancel your exam order, please email cancel@aptsusa.com and include the student name, name of the school, and the exam order to cancel.
Cancellation requests submitted between November 11, 2022 and through 11:59pm April 1, 2023 will be eligible for a partial refund of the base exam fees – a $40 per exam College Board cancellation penalty fee will be retained from the exam fees. Credit/debit card fees are non-refundable. No refunds will be issued for requests submitted after April 1, 2023 or no shows on exam day.
7. The AP® Chinese and AP® Japanese exams are open only for registration to currently enrolled MMSD high school students. Students who register for the AP® Chinese or Japanese language exams will be notified of their exam location by email in early April.
AP® Computer Science Principles exam is only available for students who are currently enrolled in an accredited AP CSP course, as half the exam grade is based on in-class work.
8. Accommodations for Students with Disabilities: Testing accommodations present on an IEP or 504 are not applied to Advanced Placement® exams. The College Board requires students seeking testing accommodations for AP® exams to apply privately for approval before any accommodations may be granted in May. This year’s deadline for application for approved accommodations is January 18, 2023. Families may apply after this date, but there is no guarantee the College Board will review late applications in time for administration in May. Your school has a College Board designated Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) coordinator who can assist in the application process. Please contact your school’s AP® Coordinator if you are unsure who to speak to regarding the process.
9. Exam day specifics will be communicated by MMSD to examinees closer to the May 2023 exam administration.
