Exam Registration Deadline: November 2, 2020
Exam Fee Balance Due Deadline: March 5, 2021
Exam Fee: $95 per exam
How do I order an exam?
Step 1: Submit Exam Deposit – To indicate intention and commitment to take an AP® exam in the May 2021 AP® Exam administration, a $50 per exam deposit is due by November 2, 2020. Click below to submit the deposit.
Deposit payments can be submitted online with a debit or credit card OR by mailing in a check or money order. A 3% credit card fee is automatically added to the cost of the exam for debit or credit card payments. Mail in payments have no additional fee. Postmark deadline for mail in payments is October 27, 2020. Details are provided on the deposit summary email sent to the parent email address provided on the deposit form.
Step 2: Activate Exam on MyAP – Students who successfully submit an exam deposit will receive a “Next Steps” email that will direct them to log into the College Board MyAP site at http://myap.collegeboard.org using their College Board accounts.
The “Next Steps” email will be sent from APTS to the STUDENT email address provided on the deposit form with 24-hrs of deposit submission confirmation. Students will then log into their College Board profiles on the MyAP website.
Your College Board profile is the same account used to order SAT® exams, or to collect PSAT/NMSQT® and AP® scores from previous years. If you do not have a profile, you will be able to create an account on http://myap.collegeboard.org
Both returning and new users will be prompted to go through MyAP Registration pages on the MyAP website, see below for tips of what information to provide.
Each subject will have an Exam Join Code (access code) to apply to the MyAP site to activate the exam. The Exam Group codes will be included in your Next Step email that will be sent after the exam deposit has been submitted. To activate the exam, click on “Add Class/Exam” and enter the Exam Join Code that corresponds to each exam for which you submitted a deposit.
Exam Activation deadline: November 2, 2020.
⇒ Failure to complete step 1 AND 2 above by November 2, 2020 will mean that your AP® Coordinator cannot submit your exam order to College Board without your account incurring a penalty fee of $40 per exam, effectively making the cost per exam $135.
Step 3: Submit Balance of Fees Due – Starting in mid-November, students who successfully activated an exam by paying the deposit AND activating the exam on MyAP, will receive via email from APTS a personalized invoice for the balance of fees due per exam. Balance due in full by March 5, 2021.
The Balance Due email will be sent to the PARENT Email address provided on the Deposit payment form.
Exam fees can be submitted online using a credit or debit card, OR by mailing in a check or money order. Payment instructions are available on the digital invoice. Download the PDF copy of the invoice OR click on “View and Pay Online Now” on the invoice main screen.
⇒ Students with outstanding balances due as of March 6, 2021 will have their exam automatically deactivated and will forfeit their $50 deposit.
I can’t access my College Board profile or I can’t remember if I have one. What do I do?
Don’t create a second account!
Each student should have only ONE College Board account during their high school careers which houses AP®, PSAT® and SAT® scores and information. For log in help visit: https://pages.collegeboard.org/account-help or https://myap.collegeboard.org Students may also call College Board AP® Services for Students: 844-314-3632.
What information should I complete on my College Board profile?
The MyAP System will prompt you to complete the Registration screens if you are creating a new account. (If you have an account already, make sure to check through the MyAP Profile pages.)
Make sure that you enter your FULL legal name (should match your school records), your school student ID number, and also the name of your school. The email address on your profile should be your school email address (and if your school does not issue email addresses, it should be another STUDENT email address that is checked frequently and will be accessible after high school.) The email will be a crucial account identifier as well as where you will receive alerts from College Board and APTS.
On your College Board MyAP Profile you will also be prompted to complete the “Send Score” feature – on this screen you will submit the name of the college/university where you would like your free exam score report sent in July. Deadline to indicate the name of the school and qualify for a free report, is June 15, 2021.)
Where do I get the Join Codes to be able to activate the exam?
Exam Join Codes are subject specific. They will be issued via email to students at the student email address on the deposit form once the deposit payment has successfully processed. Keep an eye out for a “Next Steps” Email from APTS to receive the Join Codes and activate your exam.
The “Next Steps” email will be sent from APTS to the STUDENT email address provided on the deposit form with 24-hrs of deposit submission confirmation. Students will then log into their College Board profiles on the MyAP website.
If you have not received it (and confirmed it’s not in your SPAM folder), email support@aptsusa.com for assistance. Join Codes will not be released over the phone.
All students must complete the Join Code activation step by November 2, 2020 to avoid penalty fees of $40 per exam. No new exam orders will be activated after March 5, 2021.
Can I make payments towards my balance due for my AP® Exam invoice?
Yes, students will receive their AP® Exam Fee Invoices beginning in mid-November at the PARENT email address on the deposit payment form. The full balance is due March 5, 2021 but students/families can make payments throughout that period of time.
Without payment of the balance due by March 5, 2021, the exam will be deactivated, the student will not be allowed to sit for the May exam administration and will forfeit their deposit.
I did not receive my AP® Exam Fee Invoice via email. What do I do?
Your AP® Exam Fee Invoice was emailed to the PARENT email address provided on the deposit form. It may have landed in your Spam folder – please check there. If you cannot find the invoice, please contact support@aptsusa.com to have your invoice re-issued.

What about accommodations?
You must have advanced approval from the College Board. Please talk with one of The Bush School Learning Specialists, Sara Carter and Sloan Chong, as soon as possible.
Why take an AP® exam?
Since The Bush School doesn’t offer AP classes, colleges don’t expect our students to take AP exams. Bush students who choose to sit for AP exams and receive a score of 4 or 5, however, may report these scores to colleges in order to receive college credit (policies vary from institution to institution).
AP exams are not required for admission to any college in the United States. However, students who are seriously considering applying to colleges and universities abroad (particularly in the UK and Canada) may want to consider sitting for AP exams as they are part of the admissions process for these institutions. AP exams should correspond to intended area of study in college for these students.
How will my classes prepare me for an AP Exam?
Since The Bush School does not follow an AP curriculum in the classroom, the content covered in your class may or may not align with the content on the exam. Students should consult their teachers about the areas that might require additional attention outside of their work in class.
How are the AP® exams scored?
AP® exams are scored from 1-5, with 1 being the lowest, and 5 being the highest. Students typically only report scores of 4 and 5 to colleges as these are the scores that will most often earn them college credit. Please note, however, that most domestic colleges limit the number of credits a student can bring in as a first year student.
Should I take an AP® exam?
If you have any questions about whether an AP® exam makes sense for you, please talk with Jim, Melissa, or Courtney in the College Counseling Office as well as the teacher of the subject material.
Which AP® exams are offered at The Bush School?
The Bush School will offer: Biology, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Chinese Language, Computer Science A, English Language, English Literature, Environmental Science, French Language, Physics C: Mechanics, Spanish Language, Statistics, US Government, US History.
When and how do I send my AP® scores to colleges?
-
- Official AP scores are only sent to a college once a student has made a final matriculation decision and is anticipating earning transfer credit.
- Students who took AP exams as freshmen, sophomores, and/or juniors and received scores of 4 and 5 can self-report on their college applications during the fall of senior year. In addition, the College Counseling Office will place all scores of 4 and 5 on student transcripts.
- Once you know where you will be enrolling, you can log into your College Board MyAP account and send scores to the college of your choice. (Deadline to request to send a free set of scores is June 15.) All score send requests are submitted only through your MyAP Account.
Do I have to share my exam results?
If you prefer not to report your results, you do not have to – they are not a requirement for admission to domestic colleges. You decide which scores you want to share with colleges.
When do the exams take place?
-
- AP exams are offered based on a national exam calendar set by The College Board. See the calendar at the link below. Exams are on average 4 hrs long.
- Morning exams begin at 8:00 a.m., and afternoon exams begin at 12:00 p.m.
- Please plan accordingly; you are responsible for notifying your teachers and coaches if you miss class or practice. Students will not be allowed to leave exams early under any circumstances.
- Please note that due to COVID-19, all 2020 AP Exams were virtual and followed a different schedule and format. The scheduling of the May 2021 AP Exams are also possibly subject to change.
Where will I take the AP® exams?
The Bush School will notify you of your test location(s) no later than the Friday prior to your exam by sending an email to your Bush email account. Exam locations will vary by space availability. As noted above, exams last spring were moved to virtual format. Format and location is therefore subject to change.
What if I don’t attend The Bush School? It is possible to take an exam with The Bush School students?
Only students currently attending The Bush School will be able to register through this site. AP® Exams will only be administered to current The Bush School students.
