AP Exam FAQs

Exam Ordering Deadline: October 28, 2019

What is the deadline to order AP® exams?

College Board has changed their exam ordering process for AP® Exams to Fall Registration. The exams remain in May of each year. Deadline to register for the May 2020 AP Exams at Bear River HS is October 28, 2019.

Late registration will not be possible.

How do I order AP® exams?

Step 1: Fee SubmissionBetween August 23 and October 28, 2019 click on Submit AP® Exam Payment and complete the online payment form to submit fees. You can submit payment using either a credit/debit card OR mail-in a check or money order. Instructions are included at the end of the form based on the payment option that you choose.

Step 2: Activate ExamStudents choosing to take the exams must log into their AP® Exam Groups on the MyAP Site at https://myap.collegeboard.org to indicate their exam decision and complete the registration process. To access the site, create or use a College Board Profile.

Students will receive a Join Code to enable joining the AP® Exam Group from their Bear River HS AP® Course teachers. Students must join the AP® Exam group on MyAP and indicate their exam decision/commitment on that site no later than October 28 to complete their order.

⇒ BOTH steps above must be completed for an exam order to be considered complete.

Failure to complete the Join Step/Decision Indicator Step on MyAP will mean that the school coordinator cannot submit your exam order. Fees will automatically be refunded and no exam ordered.

Why are there now multiple steps for registration?

The College Board has launched this new system nationwide in August 2019 for May 2020 AP® Exams.

What are the benefits of the new system that College Board is using?

The online MyAP component will allow College Board to personalize student exam materials for exam day. This will mean no longer having to bubble onto a scantron crucial details like name, ID number and email address. AND it will mean faster and more accurate results to your colleges and universities! In addition, by also joining the Class Group with a teacher issued Join Code, students will be able to access homework and test assignments from their AP® Teachers that will include secure questions from the College Board AP® Question Bank. Students will also have access to review materials and resources.

What if I can’t log into my College Board profile or can’t remember if I have one?

Students create College Board profiles to access their AP®, PSAT® and SAT® scores or to register for a SAT® Exam. You may already have an account if you have taken any of these exams in the past.

Don’t create a second account!

Each student should have only ONE College Board account during their high school careers which houses AP®, PSAT® and SAT® scores and information. For log in help visit: https://pages.collegeboard.org/account-help or https://myap.collegeboard.org

Students may also call College Board AP® Services for Students: 1-866-630-9305.

Which information should I provide on my College Board MyAP Registration Profile?

Students should use their legal name (to match school records), so that the name will also match the student’s School ID or driver’s license at exam check in. College Board also sends scores electronically to colleges/universities. A discrepancy in name can result in score reporting issues and delays. To update a name or correct a name, contact College Board at 1-866-630-9305.

Students should use an email address that they will have access to BEYOND high school and where they can receive alerts from College Board or APTS. The email address used on the College Board profile should also match the email address on the APTS Payment form to ensure exam order reconciliation.

Students should provide a student ID number on the registration profile – this will enable identification of any errors in student name (for example, nicknames versus legal names.)

College Board does not collect Social Security numbers, so your account is identified as unique based on your email address, School Student ID number, and name. Be consistent in how you enter information!

Where do I get the Join Code to be able to Activate my AP® Exam/Class on MyAP?

Join Codes are subject, teacher and class period specific. Please see your Bear River HS AP® Course teacher for the Join Code ASAP.

Where do I get an admission ticket?

Students do not need admission tickets to enter the AP® Exam testing facilities. However, each student does need a CURRENT picture ID, such as a school ID or a driver’s license. Without picture ID students will not be allowed to enter the room.

How do I qualify for a fee reduction?

Students who believe they may be eligible for a fee reduction must speak with Ms. O’Callaghan. Approval for fee reductions will be based on criteria established annually by the College Board. If approved, a student will be provided with a fee reduction code which will reduce the amount of exam fees due on the online payment form in Step 1.

What should I bring to the exam room?

Several # 2 pencils, pens with blue or black ink, calculator (if applicable), erasers, ruler (only if you are taking the AP® Physics exam).

What cannot be brought to the exam room?

No cell phones, electronic devices (other than approved calculators), purses, backpacks, highlighters, mechanical pencils, books. No food or drink.

When and where do I report for my exams?

See Exam Day Information by clicking HERE.

What if I am late?

Students will not be permitted to the testing room late for security reasons. Late arrivals who are not admitted to the testing rooms are considered “no shows” and are not eligible for refunds or make up exams.
