2. Why take the PSAT/NMSQT®
The PSAT/NMSQT® measures the reading, math and writing skills needed for college. Students can use it to find their “skill gaps” and then make plans to fill those gaps before college begins. If you are unfamiliar with timed tests made up of multiple-choice questions, it gives you a good idea of what to expect when you take the College Board Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT®), which many colleges require of their applicants.
Eligible students who wish to be considered for Merit Scholarships, Special Scholarships and Achievement Scholarships should take the October 13th PSAT/NMSQT®. Eligible requirements for these scholarships are explained in detail in the information booklet which will be given to you when you return the registration form.
3. When are scores released?
PSAT® results are usually sent to schools in late December and then are released to students soon after. Students will be able to log into their College Board profiles at https://studentscores.collegeboard.org to retrieve the scores (College Board Profiles are the same accounts used to order SAT® exams, or to log into the MyAP AP® Exam system. If students do not have one, they will need to create a profile to access scores.)
4. Can I cancel my exam and receive a refund?
Students who cancel by September 9 will be eligible for a full refund of the exam fees. (Credit and debit card processing fees are non-refundable.) Students who cancel after Sept 9 and before September 11, 2022 will be eligible for a refund of $15. No refunds will be issued after September 11, 2022.
5. Is there financial aid available for the PSAT/NMSQT® exam?
Students who qualify for a fee reduction would be able to receive a significant reduction in exam fees. To apply for a fee reduction, please contact the PSAT® Exam Coordinator Mr. Aldred at joseph.allred@aps.edu to request the fee reduction. Students who are approved for the fee reduction will receive a Fee Reduction Code (discount code) to apply to the payment form. Code usage will be verified for eligibility.
