What is the deadline to order AP® exams?
Students attending Poway High School must adhere to the following new timelines/deadlines, based on when the AP® course corresponding to the exam commences:

Students who are self-studying for an exam, homeschooled, or preparing for an exam not offered as a course at Poway HS must adhere to the November 3 deadline.
Students who miss the November 3 deadline for exams corresponding to courses that start in August will be able to submit a penalty fee order from January 16 through March 1, 2024.
There will be no waiting list and no stand-by testing. No exam orders can be accepted after March 1, 2024.
How do I order AP® exams?
Step 1: Activate the exam on MyAP at http://myap.collegeboard.org – Use your College Board Profile to log in.
College Board profiles are the same accounts used to order SAT® exams, or to collect prior year PSAT/NMSQT® or AP® Exam scores. Do not create a new account if you already have one (see below for tips.)
If you have never created a College Board account, create one by clicking on ‘Create Account’ on http://myap.collegeboard.org
Students will obtain a Join Code (access code) from their AP® Course teachers. Join Codes for the MyAP Site are subject, teacher and class period specific.
ALL Students should complete the Join Step to be able to access the free online resources for their AP® Subject made available on MyAP. Once the student has joined the online AP® Class group, they will be prompted to complete or update the MyAP Registration Profile pages.
Students choosing to take the optional exam must also click the “Register for Exams” button on MyAP AND submit exam fees or no exam will be ordered.

Step 2 – Submit Exam Fees: Click on Submit AP® Exam Fees and complete the online form. You can submit payment using either a credit/debit card OR mail-in a check or money order. Instructions are included at the end of the form based on the payment option that you choose.
Payment can be submitted online with a debit or credit card OR by mailing in a check or money order. A 3.1% online processing fee will apply to payments submitted with a debit or credit card. No additional fees apply for mailing in a payment. Instructions for mail in will be included in the order summary email. Postmark deadline for the FALL registration window is October 30 and February 26, 2024 for Spring.
Students must complete the online payment form and submit payment by the applicable deadline. (See above.)

Failure to complete the Activation on MyAP will mean that the school coordinator cannot submit your exam order. Fees will automatically be refunded and no exam ordered.

What does a successful exam activation look like?
When you log into MyAP, you will see the following:
Can I submit payment for all my Fall and Spring courses’ exams at once?
Yes, a student can submit payment for all the exams they intend to take in May 2024 before November 3. Once the deadline has passed, payment submission without penalty will be possible only for exams that correspond to courses with an October/November/January start date.
Students will not be to complete the Join Code and Activation step for a course/exam until that course has commenced.
What if I can’t log into my College Board profile or can’t remember if I have one?
Students create College Board profiles to access their AP®, PSAT® and SAT® scores or to register for a SAT® or SAT® 2 Exam. You may already have an account if you have taken any of these exams in the past.
Don’t create a second account!
Each student should have only ONE College Board account during their high school careers which houses AP®, PSAT® and SAT® scores and information. For log in help visit: https://pages.collegeboard.org/account-help or https://myap.collegeboard.org

Which information should I provide on my College Board MyAP Registration Profile?
Students should use their legal name (to match school records), so that the name will also match the student’s School ID or driver’s license at exam check in. College Board also sends scores electronically to colleges/universities. A discrepancy in name can result in score reporting issues and delays. To update a name or correct a name, contact College Board at 1-866-630-9305.
Students should use an email address that they will have access to BEYOND high school and where they can receive alerts from College Board or APTS.
Students should provide a student ID number on the registration profile – this will enable easier attendance reporting to the Poway HS attendance office on exam day as well as enable identification of any errors in student name (for example, nicknames versus legal names.)
College Board does not collect Social Security numbers, so your account is identified as unique based on your email address, School Student ID number, and name. Be consistent in how you enter information!
What if I qualify for Free-Reduced Lunch or other Fee Reductions?
Fee reductions are available but must be applied for by October 26, 2023 to ensure meeting the fall registration deadline. Approval may take several days. To apply for a fee reduction, download the form below and submit it to the Poway HS Counseling Office before October 26, 2023.
Once approved, you will receive a Fee Reduction Code to apply to the online payment form under Submit AP® Exam Fees . When prompted, select that “Yes, You have been approved for a Fee Reduction by your AP® Coordinator.” Enter the code in the space that is provided. Your total exam fees will be reduced automatically. The balance can then be submitted via credit/debit card or a mail-in check or money order. You MUST also still join the AP® Class on MyAP® before the deadline!
If a student ONLY has AP courses that adhere to the March deadline, they may submit fee reduction applications in January/February. For any subjects with a November deadline, applications must be submitted in the Fall.
When is the exam and how long is it?
The National College Board AP® Exam calendar is posted on the calendar linked below. Exams are either Morning (7:30 a.m. check-in) exams or Afternoon (11:45am. check-in) exams. On average, exams last 4 hours (this includes approximately 15 minutes of time spent on completing identifying information, etc.) Students should notify coaches, parents, etc. accordingly since no early dismissal is possible from the exam.
Where do I get an admission ticket?
Students do not need admission tickets to enter the AP® Exam testing facilities. However, each student does need a CURRENT picture ID, such as a school ID or a driver’s license. Without picture ID students will not be allowed to enter the room.
What may I bring with me to the exam room?
Students may not bring into the exam room any type of backpack or bag, including purses. No study guides or materials are allowed. No cell phones, smartwatches or electronic communication devices are allowed. No iPads, iPods or MP3 players are allowed. No highlighters are allowed. Students may not bring bottled water/drinks or food to the testing room. (See Test Site Regulations for more information.) Students MUST bring a current picture ID, pencils, pens in blue or black ink, and a calculator if applicable.
How do I figure out where my exam will be administered?
Information on testing locations will be released by the school closer to exam date.
When do I need to report to the testing room?
For morning exams, students need to report to the testing room at 7:30am. For afternoon exams students need to report to the testing room at 11:45am.
Testing will begin at 8:00am for morning exams and shortly after noon for afternoon exams. For security reasons and per College Board regulations, students will NOT be admitted to the room once the exam materials have been opened. Late arrivals who are not admitted to the room are considered ‘no shows’ and are not eligible for the partial refund or for make-up of the exam.
Do I need to excuse my absence from school during the exam?
Your school attendance office will receive a copy of an attendance roster from the exam so you will automatically be excused for the class periods that are affected by the testing. You are not excused for the entire day. You must follow your school site’s protocol for checking back in when returning to campus (i.e. checking in with Attendance to get a pass.) You are responsible for all school work missed during your absence for AP® Exams.
Attendance reporting is based on your student ID number – make sure you have entered that in on the MyAP® Registration profile on http://myap.collegeboard.org
What if I have more than one exam scheduled for the same day and same time? What if I have two exams scheduled on the same day?
College Board makes provisions for students who would like to register to take two exams that are scheduled at the EXACT same time and date. Your coordinator will automatically assign one exam to an alternate date. Unfortunately, you would not be eligible for late testing if you are taking two exams back to back (i.e. one in the morning and one in the afternoon). In the event of back to back testing, please bring a packed lunch in clear bags (no labels.) You will be able to access it during the time between exams.
What if I decide to not take an exam? Can I get a refund?
Cancellations: Students who order and pay for an exam but decide to cancel before April 26, 2024 will be eligible for a partial refund of $70 per exam (a $40 cancellation penalty fee will be charged by College Board for exams cancelled after your course’s registration window). To cancel your exam, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org before 11:59pm PST on April 26, 2024 and include your name, name of your school (including city and state), and name of the exam you would like to cancel. Credit card fees are non-refundable. Exams cancelled from April 27 onwards as well as no shows on exam day are not eligible for any refund and forfeit their fees.
Students who submitted an exam registration at a $5 Fee Reduction price will not be eligible for a refund.
What if I finish the exam early? Can I leave early?
Per College Board’s security regulations for exams, students may not leave the test until time is called and all examinees are excused together. If a student leaves without permission, their exam will be collected and submitted separately to College Board. Their score will be cancelled and no refund will be possible. Exams are approximately 4 hours. Please be prepared for the duration of the exam.
Is it possible to receive accommodations on the exams for students with disabilities?
To receive accommodations on a College Board exam, students must submit a one-time application to College Board for review. College Board will assign accommodations for their suite of exams based on that review. Deadline to submit a new application and guarantee a review before the May 2024 AP® exams is January 18, 2024. To submit an application or if you have questions about accommodations based testing, please contact your school site AP® Coordinator ASAP.
What if I get sick and can’t make the exam?
There are provisions for students who become sick or injured during or right before testing. In case of such an emergency, please contact your school AP® Coordinator immediately (no later than the day of the scheduled exam since deadlines for rescheduling apply.)
