Registration Deadline: October 2, 2020 (midnight EST).
1. Registration & Fees
Students must register for the 2020 PSAT/NMSQT® exam between September 17, 2020 and October 2, 2020 (midnight EST). No late registration is possible. The exam will be administered at Pascack Valley High School on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, during school hours. The cost for each exam is $31.00.
2. Why take the PSAT/NMSQT® exam?
10th and 11th grade students are encouraged to take the PSAT® for a variety of reasons: 1) it gives the most up-to-date picture of where you are likely to score on the actual SAT®. This will assist you in determining where you wish to spend your time and effort in preparing for the SAT® exam. 2) As a junior, you are entered as a part of the National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test (NMSQT®), a competition that awards some top scoring students across the nation with scholarships. 3) Another chance at a practice exam is always a good idea. This will help you to get a feel for the actual exam, which helps to reduce testing anxiety.
3. When are scores released?
PSAT® results will be available online in December via the student’s College Board Profile. When scores are ready online, the student will receive an email with instructions on creating their College Board account, going to the online score portal, and using their access code to view their score report. (If a student has taken an AP®, SAT® or PSAT® Exam before, they should log into the College Board Profile they had created previously. Each student should have only ONE College Board profile.)
4. Can I cancel my exam and receive a refund?
No. Cancellations and refunds of the exam fees is not possible.
NOTE: In the event of exam administration cancellation due to school closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, students will automatically receive a full refund of exam fees. The refund will be credited back to the original method of payment.
5. What if I miss the exam?
If you miss the exam offered on October 14, you can contact College Board to get a list of schools offering the alternate exam on Saturday, October 17 or October 29 (during school hours.)
6. What time do I report and how long is the exam?
The exam will last approximately 4 hours. Specific details pertaining to test day (ex: reporting time and location, materials needed, etc…) will be shared with students and parents the week of the exam.
