Students and families enrolled in the Collegiate School can register here for the 2020 Advanced Placement (AP®) exam administration. Please read carefully through the information below.

New Deadlines and New Procedures!

Step 1: Submit Exam Fee DepositSubmit a $40 per exam deposit by November 1, 2019.* Click below to submit the deposit.

Step 2: Activate ExamStudents must activate their exams on The College Board MyAP site by JOINing their AP® Class on the MyAP Site at https://myap.collegeboard.org To access the site, create or use a College Board Profile. (See FAQs for more details.) November 1 is the deadline to activate your exam.*

Step 3:  Submit balance due – Starting on December 5, students who committed to an exam by paying the deposit will receive a personalized invoice for the balance of fees due via email. Balance due paid in full by February 12, 2020.

GENERAL EXAM INFORMATION:

  • Per school policy, every student who is enrolled in an AP® course in 2019-2020 is required to take the national AP® exam scheduled in May. Everyone taking a May 2020 AP® exam must follow the steps above to activate an exam order by November 1, 2019.*
        • *Students enrolled in courses such as AP® Macroeconomics, AP® Comparative Government, and AP® US Government that COMMENCES in the Spring/Second Semester will not be able to activate their exams until the course commences. These students, and ONLY these students, will be able to join their course and activate the exam in the Spring, from January 22, 2020 until February 12, 2020. Students enrolled in these courses MAY submit an exam deposit for the corresponding exams in the Fall but are not required to do so. The payment submission window for these exams will open January 22 and close February 12, 2020.
  • The following optional exams are available:  AP® English Literature and AP® English Language are available to juniors and seniors, and AP® US History is available to juniors. Students need to review the policies and regulations surrounding the optional exams and certify on the registration form that all policies are understood and will be followed. ACTIVATING YOUR EXAM ORDER & SUBMITTING FEES:

  • The total cost of each 2020 AP® exam is $97 ($94 per exam, set by the College Board + $3 to help pay for exam proctors). To initiate the exam order a $40 deposit is due by November 1, 2019.
  • All students must also activate their exam on the College Board MyAP System by November 1, 2019*. See your AP® teacher for the Join/Access Code and then log into http://myap.collegeboard.org to complete the process (See FAQs for more information.)
  • A personalized digital invoice will be emailed out to each student (to the parent email address provided on the Exam Deposit Form). Invoices will be sent out starting December 5, 2019. Deadline to submit exam fees in full is February 12, 2020.
  • The deposit form accepts credit card or debits cards OR you can mail in payment. If you are unable to order an exam using a credit card or debit card, complete the online deposit form, select “Mail in Check or Money Order” as your payment option. Mail a copy of your summary email page along with a check or money order payable to “APTS” to the address provided on your summary email. Deposit Payment Checks must be postmarked on or before October 28 to ensure timely processing.  A 3% online payment fee will be added to the total of the payment if using a credit card or debit card to submit payment. This fee is to cover the additional charges by third-party credit-card processors. The 3% fee is not collected by Collegiate School and is not charged for check or school account payments.
  • To submit the balance due, you will be able to print the digital invoice and mail it in to APTS with a check or money order, OR you will be able to submit the balance due online by clicking on the link in the invoice. Online payments can be submitted via debit or credit card or Apple Pay. A 3% online payment fee will be added to the total of the payment if using a credit card or debit card to submit payment. This fee is to cover the additional charges by third-party credit-card processors. The 3% fee is not collected by Collegiate School and is not charged for check or school account payments. Postmark to submit your balance due by mail in payment is February 7, 2020.
  • Students who qualify for an AP® Exam fee reduction will receive a discount code to apply to the Deposit Form. This deposit code will adjust your invoiced balance due that will be sent out in December. Deadline to submit your modified balance due remains February 12, 2020.
  • Students enrolled in courses such as AP® Macroeconomics, AP® Comparative Government, and AP® US Government that COMMENCES in the Spring/Second Semester will not be able to activate their exams until the course commences. These students, and ONLY these students, will be able to join their course and activate the exam in the Spring, from January 22, 2020 until February 12, 2020. Students enrolled in these courses MAY submit an exam deposit for the corresponding exams in the Fall but are not required to do so. STUDENTS RECEIVING EXTENDED TIME:

  • Only students who have been previously approved for College Board Special Accommodations may take AP® exams with extended time or other accommodations. You’ll need your SSD number at the time of online registration.  Contact Dr. Best or Mrs. Markiewicz to receive your SSD number if you don’t already have it.

CLASS ATTENDANCE DURING EXAMS:

  • During the two week AP® testing period, you will be expected to be in your regular classes when not taking an exam, with the following optional exceptions:
    1) If you are scheduled to take an afternoon exam, you may be excused from morning classes on the day of the exam.
    2) If you are taking two consecutive morning exams, you may be excused from afternoon classes between exams.

CANCELLING OPTIONAL EXAMS:

  • Students who order an optional exam (AP® English or US History) but decide to cancel with written notification on or before midnight EST, November 1, 2019 will receive a full refund. Written cancellations received after November 1, 2019 will be charged a $40 unused exam fee. No cancellations will be processed after May 1, 2020. To request a refund, email cancel@aptsusa.com with your name, name of your school, and the exam you would like to cancel. No shows on exam day are not eligible for any refund.

LATE EXAMS:

  • If you foresee any scheduling conflicts (due to spring sports, other activities, or family commitments), please do your best to make arrangements to accommodate your required AP® exam. Students will not be allowed to leave the test early. If conflicts are unavoidable, please contact Ms. Earle ASAP to discuss the possibility of taking an AP® exam during the nationally set late test administration. An additional $40/exam late testing fee may be charged according to College Board guidelines.
  • Should you be scheduled to take two AP® exams at the same time, you will be approved (without a late fee) to take one of the exams during the late test administration (May 20-22). Please let Ms. Earle know ASAP.

EXAM DAY INFORMATION:

  • Students should report to morning exams by 7:45am and by 11:45am for afternoon exams.  Students who report after exam administration begins will not be admitted.  No exceptions.  Exams will take approximately four hours.
  • Specific room assignments will be shared a few days prior to testing. Seating will be randomly assigned.
  • Students must bring two #2 pencils, pens, erasers, and calculators (if applicable – see AP® Security Rules for approved types) with fresh batteries to the AP® test room. CELL PHONES, BACKPACKS, PURSES OR BAGS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE TEST ROOM and will not be accessible to you during the test, including during break times. We recommend that those are left in your locker or at home.
  • Students must adhere to the Test Site Regulations for the duration of the exam period. Failure to adhere to all regulations may result in removal from exam and cancellation of scores. For more information, please read the AP® Bulletin for Students and Parents (a paper copy will be distributed to students after spring break).
