Katy ISD AP® Exam Payment Submissions

Students and Families enrolled on Katy Independent School District (TX) can submit fees here for the 2026 AP® Exam Administration.

Deadline to Submit Deposit for Fall Orders: October 26, 2025 (midnight CST)

Deadline to Submit Fee for SPRING or fees for new late orders: February 15, 2026 (midnight CST)

Deadline to make sure all fees are paid in full: April 1, 2026

Deadlines and Procedures for May 2026 Exams:

STEP 1: Submit exam FEES – Click on Submit AP® Exam Fee and submit a $40 deposit.* For courses that start in the Fall, exam deposits are due by October 26, 2025. For courses that start in the Spring, exam fees are due by February 15, 2026

STEP 2: Activate your exam  – (Done usually in class by students during the first weeks of school) Log into the College Board MyAP site at http://myap.collegeboard.org using your College Board profile and apply the ‘Join Code’ (access code) you receive from your teacher for each of your AP subjects. (See FAQs for details). Activate the exam by Clicking “Register for Exam.” Deadline to activate your exam for courses corresponding to FALL is October 26, 2025. Deadline to activate your exam for courses corresponding to SPRING is February 15, 2026.

*Step 1 and 2 can be done in either order!

STEP 3: Pay your BALANCE DUE – Families will receive on December 1 a digital invoice via email from APTS for any applicable balance of fees due for exams ordered by October 26, 2025. Balance of fees must be paid in full by April 1, 2026 for all students to ensure eligibility to sit for the May 2026 exams.

Please note: The College Board Advanced Placement (AP)® courses, which are optional courses offered as part of the advanced academics program, involve college-level content that may include topics beyond the scope of typical high school courses. The College Board provides a detailed set of expectations about what content a college-level course should cover. Course information can be reviewed on the College Board website. It is important for students and parents/guardians to be aware that some of the material covered and resources utilized in these courses may not align with the policies and guidelines set by the local school district. 

REGISTRATION FOR MAY 2026 AP® EXAMS WILL RUN FROM:

  • Fall and Yearlong Courses: September 1, 2025 through October 26, 2025 (Midnight CST)
  • Spring Courses: January 12, 2026 through February 15, 2026 (Midnight CST)

1.The cost per exam is $103. ($40 deposit per exam due by October 26, 2025 and the balance due by April 1, 2026.)

2. Exam registration for 2026 AP® exams requires three steps:

Step 1: Activation of your exam on the College Board MyAP site AND submission of exam fees. (See FAQs for more information on the MyAP activation process.) by October 26, 2025 (Midnight CST).

Students enrolled in AP® courses that COMMENCE in the Spring will have the opportunity to activate their AP® Exams without penalty between January 12, 2026 through February 15, 2026 (Midnight CST).

Step 2: Click on “Submit AP Exam Deposit” button below and submit a $40 deposit. For courses that start in the Fall, exam deposits are due by October 26, 2025.*

Students enrolled in Spring semester AP® Courses may submit deposits for these exams in the Fall but are not required to do so at that time. Penalty fee deposit submission is available until February 15, 2026 for students in Spring semester AP® courses.

To submit the deposit, complete the deposit form at the link below and submit deposit fees. Deposit submission may be done via credit card or debit card, OR by mailing in a check or money order. There will be an online payment fee of 3.9% for payments submitted by credit or debit card. Directions for payment can be found at the end of the online deposit form and in your parent e-mail confirmation. Postmark deadlines apply.

Failure to submit deposits by October 26 will mean the exam will NOT be ordered. 

Step 3: Pay your balance due by April 1, 2026. 

Students with an active exam order by October 26 will receive on December 1 at the parent email address on their deposit record for any applicable balance due.

The digital invoice will go out to families several times throughout December and until April 1 – families can simply click on the “Pay Now” button in the invoice email to submit fees online with a debit/credit card, or they can mail in payments to processing center address provided in the invoice emails.
Deadline to pay any balance due and remain eligible to test for the May 2026 exams is April 1, 2026.

 

3. Fee reductions are possible for qualifying students. If you feel you may qualify for a fee reduction, please click on the AP Exam Fee Reduction Request link below to submit a request to your school exam coordinator.

All students will submit a minimum deposit of $40 per exam. If a student is approved for a Fee Reduction by KatyISD, their balance due will be adjusted on their December invoice.

  • Katy ISD anticipates exam subsidies to be approved by the State of Texas. If approved, these subsidies will further reduce the cost of the exams by amount TBD. Students eligible for the subsidies who are confirmed to have taken the exam in May, will receive an automatic partial refund in early June to their method of deposit submission.

4. Home-school student policy: A home-schooled student, who is enrolled in 9th-12th grade, may make arrangements to take the assessment at his/her zoned Katy ISD high school. Parents will need to contact the AP Coordinator, at the zoned high school campus, for registration requirements and possible costs.

The deadline to register with the AP Coordinator at the zoned high school, is Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 3:00 PM.​  Proof of residency is required at the time of registration. See residency requirements for full details.
Katy ISD does not administer AP exams to students enrolled in an accredited virtual, charter, or private school.

 

5. Late Registration: Late registration with a penalty fee of $40 per exam will be available from November 16, 2025 until February 15, 2026 by clicking on the deposit submission link below. SPRING registration does not have late registration period/option. Once the deposit and late fees have been paid, the applicable balance due will be added to the student’s invoice and the exam activated in MyAP by the campus coordinator.

6. Cancellations and refunds: Students who have submitted an exam order (and deposit) and decide to cancel before October 27, 2025, will be able to recover their $40 deposit.

Students who have submitted an exam order (and deposit) and decide to cancel after October 27, 2025 and before 11:59pm CST April 1, 2026, will forfeit their deposit to cover the College Board cancellation penalty fee.**

Students who have submitted an exam order (and balance due) and decide to cancel after October 27, 2025 and before 11:59pm CST April 1, 2026, will forfeit their deposit to cover the College Board cancellation penalty fee, and will forfeit a $3 processing fee.

Students who qualified for a reduced rate on their exams will not be eligible for a refund if they cancel.

To cancel an exam, email cancel@aptsusa.com and include: your name, name of your school, and title of the exam to cancel. Any refund will be processed back to the method of payment. Cancellation requests submitted after April 1, 2026 and no-shows on exam day are not eligible for any refund. Debit/credit card processing fees are non-refundable.

7. Exam Locations: Exam Locations will be announced closer to the exam date by your campus of attendance.

* Exams covered by grants are exempt from the deposit.

** Students who are enrolled in SPRING semester AP Gov/Econ classes MAY submit a deposit for these courses by October 26, and will be eligible to receive that deposit (and only this deposit) back through February 15, 2026 (for example, if they drop that course.).
